Use a weather project to build graphing skills Help your child practice graphing by making a weather chart. On an April calendar, have your child write down (or draw a picture of) each day's weather. At the end of the month, your elementary schooler can count the number of sunny, rainy or cloudy days and make a simple bar graph. Then, help your child use the graph to answer questions, such as, "Were there more sunny or rainy days?" and "Which conditions happened least often?" https://tpitip.com/?14dA8433

Enlarge your child's vocabulary with a few big words Your elementary schooler’s vocabulary may be filled with short, simple words. But you don't have to speak to your child in small words. Expand vocabulary by using some "big" words occasionally. Children naturally mimic the adults around them, so to teach your child a new word, use it often. Define it. Use it in another sentence. Relate it to words your child already knows ("This book is so interesting; it's captivating!"). https://tpitip.com/?14ce8433

Learning from failure leads to success Students need to learn how to deal with failures and setbacks if they are to succeed. If your teen feels bad when something hasn’t gone well, acknowledge those feelings. Then, reassure your student that mistakes provide information that allows people to make changes. Help your teen see the problem more clearly and think about what to do differently next time. Be positive and don't let your teen lower expectations. https://tpitip.com/?34cd8433

Share smart moves for before, during and after tests The things your child does before, during and after tests can improve academic achievement. Before the test, have your child review frequently for short periods of time when feeling most alert. During the test, your child should read the directions carefully and save time to double-check work. When your child gets the test back, review it together and discuss strengths and weaknesses. Then, have your child save the test for future studying. https://tpitip.com/?14cW8433
