A total of 150 Nye County School District (NCSD) students at Pahrump Valley High School, (year 4) Round Mountain High School (year 1) and Tonopah High School (year 3) successfully participated in the JAG Nevada program during the 2018-19 school year.
The high school graduation rate for Nye County School District’s JAG students reached 100 percent in 2018, 100 percent in 2017 and 75 percent in 2016. Congratulations to our senior JAG students! Results of NCSD 2019 graduating JAG students will be available a year from now. Currently, the overall JAG Nevada Program Year 2018-2019 shows a graduation rate of 92% prior to the follow-up period.
Specialists work with students that did not graduate on time to make sure they complete the High School Equivalency for the state and to move toward their career goals. Students who finish high school receive help transitioning to higher education, the military, employment or a combination of these. The 12 month follow-up component of the program is critical to student success and distinguishes JAG Nevada from other models that target similar populations. This element of the program ensures Program Specialists are able to continue their work with students for 12 months after leaving high school. The program’s successful outcomes are attributed to this follow up.
