Pahrump Valley High School proudly announces that two of its exceptional seniors, Wolfe Beckley and Sasha Strain, have been named Semifinalists in the prestigious 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. This recognition places them among the top 1% of high school seniors in the nation, showcasing their outstanding academic achievements and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

The National Merit Scholarship Program, established in 1955, is an annual academic competition that honors individual students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and potential for success in challenging college studies. Semifinalists are selected based on their scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).

To advance to the Finalist level, Wolfe and Sasha will submit detailed scholarship applications, including information about their academic records, extracurricular activities, leadership abilities, and community involvement. They will also need to write an essay and earn SAT® or ACT® scores that confirm their earlier performance on the qualifying test.

"We are incredibly proud of Wolfe and Sasha for their remarkable accomplishments," said Desiree Veloz, Principal of Pahrump Valley High School. "Their dedication to academic excellence and their commitment to personal growth exemplify the spirit of our school community. We wish them the best as they continue in the competition.  I am certain that this is just the beginning for both of them and their journeys of excellence."

The National Merit Scholarship Program offers three types of scholarships: National Merit $2500 Scholarships, corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards, and college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. The winners of these scholarships will be announced in the spring of 2025.

Pahrump Valley High School and the Nye County School District congratulates Wolfe and Sasha on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to celebrating their continued success.
