Fold, cut and flip a science study aid
There are a lot of terms to learn in science classes. Share this effective way to study them: Have your teen fold a sheet of paper in half the long way. Then, with the fold at the left, have your student cut four or five slits in the top half (toward the fold) to make tabs. Next, your teen can write a term on each tab and the definition on the paper underneath it. Now when studying, your teen can recall a word's definition and just flip the tab to check accuracy.

Show your child how you take responsibility for your mistakes
Your mistakes can teach your child useful lessons. When they happen, demonstrate how to behave. If you forget to do something you should have done, be honest and say, "I messed up." Then talk about what you could have done differently. Make amends if you can. Your elementary schooler will learn that you take responsibility for your mistakes, and that will make it easier for your child to do the same thing.
