The RCMS stay-put drill has been lifted. Further communication about this event will come from RCMS to their families.

All students are safe. RCMS has implemented a STAY PUT emergency procedure. During practice drills, your student learned this means any outside activities are moved inside and no students or staff are allowed outside the building. All exterior doors are locked. No one is allowed to enter the building except for response personnel. Classroom instruction continues with limited hallway traffic. Weather Related School Closure Update All Nye County Schools in Pahrump, Amargosa, Beatty, Tonopah, and Gabbs will reopen tomorrow as planned. Please be cautious when walking to bus stops and schools. Round Mountain Schools will remain closed due to road conditions. The reopening of Round Mountain Schools will be assessed daily, and notifications will be sent to the community members in the later afternoon.

Weather Emergency - Schools Closed Monday, August 21, 2023 Due to the Declaration of Local Emergency of the Nye County Board of Commissioners and the recommendation to shelter in place, the Nye County School District will be closing schools tomorrow, Monday, August 21, 2023. This decision was made out of extreme caution for the safety of all Nye County School District students and staff. We are in communication with the Director of Emergency Management for Nye County, Chief Scott Lewis. We will continue to send updates if the situation changes through all school websites and Facebook: https://www.nye.k12.nv.us/live-feed. Currently our plan is for schools to return to normal schedules on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. If this changes, we will send another emergency update through all channels: phone message, email, text, all websites, and Facebook pages. All employees should stay home unless otherwise specifically arranged with your supervisor. More information will come to you through your work email.
